Crews extinguish Sunswept fire in Studio City

A fire broke out near Sunswept Drive and Vanetta Place in Studio City just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, burning or damaging multiple homes, broadcast reports said.

By 10 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that over 50 firefighters had extinguished the flames.

Multiple helicopters attacked the fire, called the Sunswept fire. NBC4 reported one of the homes in the area collapsed from the flames.

Forward progress of a spot fire that began in nearby brush was also stopped by firefighters, according to fire information nonprofit website Watch Duty.
