The CIF Los Angeles City Section will host a donation and equipment drive to benefit Palisades Charter High School, which suffered significant damage from the Palisades Fire.
“Let’s come together as a Section and be there for them,” the City Section said in an email distributed to member schools.
The drive will take place at Roybal Learning Center Saturday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Equipment can be dropped off at Roybal by using the back gate at Beaudry Avenue and Temple Street.
Accepted donation items include sporting equipment or balls for any sport.
Financial contributions will be accepted by CIF personnel only and checks should be made payable to “Palisades Charter High School” and include “athletic department” or a designated sport in the memo section of the check.
Donations, gift cards and checks will also be accepted at the City Section office throughout this week and contributions can be made to the official Palisades Charter High School Fund online at https://givebutter.com/PCHSFund.
Any questions about the needs of the school or community can be directed to Palisades athletic director Rocky Montez at rmontez@palihigh.org.
Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order Tuesday that will suspend multiple state rules to allow displaced students to attend school outside of their district and allow more freedom for schools affected by fires to use temporary facilities.
Palisades High School issued a statement requesting the community to help secure a temporary campus.
“We have a unique opportunity to show the strength and resilience of our community in the face of adversity,” Dr. Pamela Magee, Executive Director/Principal of Palisades Charter High School, said in the statement.
“By coming together, we can ensure that our students can stay in their learning environment, with their friends and mentors, at a time when they need it most.”
