CicLAvia The Valley transformed five miles of streets into a public “park”

Hundreds of bike riders and roller-skaters and walkers joined CicLAvia The Valley on Sunday, Dec. 8, the last CicLAvia to be held in 2024.

Lucky runners and roller-skaters got to pose with “The Grinch,” and teenagers proved their athletic skills with impressive wheelies. Since 2010 crowds have taken the streets away from the city’s dominating cars, walking the routes that organizers set up each time in a different neighborhood in the city.

For this CicLAvia, the 5-mile route ran along Sherman Way between Shoup Avenue and Lindley Avenue, and as the tradition goes, there is no end and no start. People just joined the route wherever they wished.

A statement from the organizers at non-profit CicLAvia explains that participants use their “favorite people-powered way—whether that’s walking, jogging, biking, roller skating, skating, or simply spectating!” Not to mention that the whole thing is free.
