Chipotle Mexican Grill is serving a new protein for a limited time, Chipotle Honey Chicken.
It will go on sale Friday, March 7, but rewards members can order it now on the chain’s app or online.
Chipotle Honey Chicken is grilled with a blend of spices in a marinade of smoked peppers and honey, according to a news release from the Newport Beach chain. The flavor was tested last year in Nashville and Sacramento.
A check on the website showed prices vary around Southern California, usually between $10.25 and $11.25. That’s slightly more than Chipotle’s regular chicken.
It can be ordered in burritos, bowls, salads, tacos and quesadillas.
The new item is in line with the National Restaurant Association’s prediction that hot honey would be a hot trend in 2025.
Taco Bell, Chipotle’s neighbor in Irvine, is also going “swicy” (sweet and spicy). On Tuesday, Taco Bell announced a partnership with Mike’s Hot Honey on the return of its chicken nuggets some time this year.
Rubio’s Coastal Grill also began serving hot honey tacos, burritos and shrimp bowls in time for Lent.
