A fire in a box truck carrying 23-gallon propane tanks was knocked down Wednesday in Encino, with one person sustaining minor burns, officials said.
The fire was reported about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, engulfing the 20-foot truck on the eastbound 101 Freeway, near the 405 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Crews used water from nearby street hydrants and were able to fully contain the fire in just over an hour. Nine propane tanks recovered from the vehicle were monitored and fully emptied to prevent explosion, according to the LAFD.
A 44-year-old man had minor burns to his hands but refused transportation to a hospital, officials said.
Overhaul operations in the area were expected to cause road closures throughout the late morning.
