Big rig runs off 210 Freeway, lands next to park and ride lot in Glendale

A big rig went off the 210 Freeway and landed next to a park and ride lot in Glendale.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 11:02 p.m. Sunday and occurred while the big rig was heading eastbound on the Foothill Freeway at the Lowell Avenue off-ramp.

The tractor and trailer separated when they landed in the park and ride lot at Lowell and Honolulu avenues, the CHP said.

A witness said the driver could not get out of the smoking cab and Glendale firefighters were summoned to the scene.

Just after midnight Monday morning, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health was asked to send a hazardous materials team to the crash scene due to a “spill.”

The driver was transported via ambulance. The condition of the driver was not available, but the crash was classified as involving injuries.
