Best thing I ate at Disneyland this week: Star Wars cheese skewer

A chunk of deep fried cheese on a stick with an otherworldly appearance and a nearly unpronounceable Star Wars name gets my vote for the best thing I ate at Disneyland this week.

The $8.49 Fried Falumpaset Cheese Skewer is available at Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during the Season of the Force seasonal event that runs through May 11 at Disneyland.

The Falumpaset skewer holds true to a long held belief: I’ll eat almost anything you dip in batter and throw in a deep fryer.

Disneyland chefs created the irresistible Instagram-ready must-try treat by taking a wild-looking street food and tossing in just a dash of Star Wars backstory.

A nice, thick batter batter holds the whole thing together — including the diced crispy potatoes stuck to the outside. A mustard-cheese dipping sauce adds to the playfulness of the stunt food.

I would order the Falumpaset again and encourage my friends to get their own. It’s big enough to share, but you probably won’t want to.

You would be forgiven for mistaking the Falumpaset in the menu item name for the beasts of burden seen pulling Gungan battle wagons during the Battle of Naboo in “The Phantom Menace.”

But the skewers are made with Falumpaset cheese, an ingredient similar to Parmesan used in a Batuu dish that most Earthlings would recognize as mashed potatoes, according to the backstory.
