Before you hit Pasadena’s Rose Parade route, know the road closures

Before you hit the road to the 136th Rose Parade, take note of the multiple on-ramp and road closures around Pasadena for the parade and the 111th Rose Bowl.

First off, Colorado Boulevard will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024. The parade route is scheduled to reopen by 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

Pasadena residents with property access via Colorado Boulevard, take note: if you’re playing host to a New Year’s Eve shindig, viewing party or expecting vendor deliveries, let them know to arrive before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 or park in areas without restricted parking.

The Rose Parade kicks off at 8 a.m. at the corner of Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard, and the 5-1/2-mile route travels north on Orange Grove before turning east onto Colorado Boulevard. The floral cavalcade then turns north onto Sierra Madre Boulevard and ends at Villa Street.

Street closures will be in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 through 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, through Colorado Boulevard, from Orange Grove Boulevard to Sierra Madre Boulevard and northbound on Sierra Madre to Paloma Street.

The city of Pasadena has created a downloadable PDF map of the parade closures.

To expedite travel in or through downtown, use Walnut Street or the 210 freeway for east/west travel north of Colorado Boulevard and use Del Mar Boulevard or Cordova Street for east/west travel south of Colorado.

The following cross streets to Colorado will be closed to north/south travel from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.1:

Caltrans will close multiple on-ramps for the Rose Parade and staff will control traffic at various locations. Some signal lights will also be turned off to help with traffic flow after the parade. Be patient and anticipate delays, and keep in mind that road closures won’t register on GPS systems.

The following ramps are scheduled to close from Tuesday, Dec. 31 through New Year’s Day:

Westbound I-210 off-ramp at Sierra Madre Boulevard – 8 p.m. to 4 p.m.Eastbound I-210 off-ramp at San Gabriel Boulevard – 8 p.m. to 4 p.m.Eastbound SR-134 off-ramp at Orange Grove Boulevard – 8 p.m. to 2 p.m.Westbound SR-134 off-ramp Orange Grove Boulevard left turn pocket – 10 p.m. to 2 p.m.Westbound SR-134 on-ramp at Orange Grove Boulevard – 12:01 a.m. to 2 p.m.Orange Grove Boulevard overpass (formation) – 12:01 a.m. to 11 a.m.The following freeway ramp traffic signals are scheduled to be turned off on New Year’s Day between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
