Angel City FC holds off Houston in road win

HOUSTON — Macey Hodge scored her first NWSL goal as Angel City FC defeated the Houston Dash 3-1 on Saturday at Shell Energy Stadium.​

Hodge opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a shot from outside the box into the bottom left corner. Riley Tiernan doubled the lead in the 29th minute with a shot from outside the box as Angel City carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.​

In the 61st minute, Houston narrowed the deficit after an Angel City turnover, with Bárbara Olivieri scoring from a pass by Yazmeen Ryan.​

Alyssa Thompson sealed the victory in the 86th minute, finishing off a fast break with a shot from the center of the box, assisted by Tiernan.

With the victory, Angel City improved to a 2-2-0 record. They will face Gotham FC on April 18 at BMO Stadium.
