After snafu, San Diego Comic-Con sets new sales date for final tickets

A date has been set for the last San Diego Comic-Con tickets.

After technical problems halted sales in late October, the pop culture juggernaut announced Thursday morning it had set a new sale date for final 2025 tickets: Saturday, Nov. 23.

The final tickets are part of what Comic-Con calls its open registration. It already held its returning registration in late September, when people who had tickets to this year’s event got first crack at tickets for 2025, which is scheduled for July 24-27. Comic-Con has not said how many of the roughly 130,000 tickets remain.

Thousands of people had signed on to the open registration on Oct. 26 only for the system to crash 37 minutes later. Comic-Con called the technical issues an “unforeseen anomaly” with its registration system. It said in a statement Thursday that the company it had contracted with has been working to fix problems.

“Their team has made critical infrastructure improvements with the goal of delivering a reliable registration experience,” SDCC said in a statement. “We are pleased to report that these changes are performing as expected, which have given us the confidence to move forward.”

Comic-Con said the sale will start at 9 a.m., but participants can get into an online waiting room at 7:30 a.m. All users will need to create a member ID on Comic-Con’s website before the sale starts.

Some participants in the previous open registration said they got to the final purchase screen but were halted before buying a ticket. Comic-Con said they will not return to their spot in line, but Nov. 23 will be a “fresh start” for all participants.
