Cosm, an entertainment, media, and technology company, will give art fans an immersive animated history lesson on some of pop art’s most prominent figures.
On Oct. 28, Cosm will present “Inside Pop Art,” a 20-minute film that examines the origins and lasting cultural impact of Roy Lichtenstein, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and others. The film will feature a soundtrack that aims to work in unison with individual artistic styles presented through the film’s animation.
After the film debuts at Cosm Los Angeles in Hollywood Park in Inglewood, it will be made available to planetariums, science centers, and full dome theaters that participate in Cosm’s Premium Media Program. Tickets for the event are $20-$25 and can be purchased at cosm.com.
The film was produced in partnership with VFX studio Moonraker and Director Graham Watts. It was designed specifically for Cosm’s Shared Reality venues and LED dome displays that are used to showcase sports and other art-related content.
The 65,000-square-foot experiential Cosm venue utilizes immersive technology to deliver stadium-style seating and standing room within an 87-foot diameter 12K+ LED dome. The venue’s stunning sound and visual quality help attendees feel like they’ve got a front-row seat no matter where they stand or sit.
“We’re thrilled to add ‘Inside Pop Art’ to our growing slate of immersive art programming at Cosm venues as well as extend it to our network of science and education institutions,” said VP and head of Cosm Studios and Labs Neil Carty in a press release. “Moonraker has masterfully told the story of pop art’s impact and significance across art, history, and culture and we’re excited for audiences to experience it together in Shared Reality.”
“Inside Pop Art” joins Cosm’s roster of art and science titles showings, including Nancy Baker Cahill’s “SEEK,” Planetary Collective Guy Reid’s “Orbital,” and Ricardo Romaneiro’s “LIQUIDVERSE: Microcosm & Macrocosm.”
