$92 million North Hollywood Health Center to replace old public health building

Los Angeles County Board Supervisor Kathryn Barger and L.A. County officials on Oct. 7 kicked off the construction of a 50,000 sq. ft., three-story health center in the heart of North Hollywood across the street from the popular North Hollywood Recreation Center.

Three county departments will be available in the new building: Health Services, Mental Health and Public Health. The three departments will “provide an integrated care model including medical, mental health, and wellness services for the community once the project is completed in 2026,” according to a prepared statement from Barger.

Once completed, the North Hollywood Health Center will include examination rooms, phlebotomy stations, a wellness center, a laboratory, outdoor community gardens and a demonstration kitchen. The project budget is estimated at just under $93 million, which includes design, construction, consultant services and other costs.

The site has been the home of an L.A. County Department of Public Health clinic in a single-story building.
