Two small earthquakes in the same area shook Malibu on Friday night and Saturday morning.
The first was a magnitude 3.7 at 11:44 p.m. Friday; the second was a magnitude 3.5 at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, the U.S Geological Survey reported.
The temblors were centered about 7 miles west-northwest of Malibu and 9 miles south-southwest of Thousand Oaks.
The first one created light shaking from San Clemente to Oxnard and as far inland as Riverside. The second one produced a sharp jolt, with shaking felt in a smaller area from Santa Paula in Ventura County to Long Beach.
No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
Moments after the first quake, people took to social media to compare notes.
“So now LA is at 3 plagues: fire, flood and as of tonight, earthquake,” a Santa Monica resident wrote.
“Malibu can’t catch a break these days,” another poster said.
