A 17-year-old girl was stabbed to death in Azusa on Friday night, Dec. 20, authorities said, and an 18-year-old boy has been taken into custody.
Azusa Police Department officers responded around 10 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 300 block of North Soldano Avenue, near Third Street and west of the Azusa High School West Campus. They located the victim, who was suffering from stab wounds.
She was transported to a hospital, where she was declared dead.
LACSD homicide investigators assumed control of the investigation.
The suspect, an acquaintance of the victim, was taken into custody on Saturday. The exact nature of his relationship with the victim was unclear. Both were Azusa residents.
No further details were available.
Homicide detectives plan to present the facts of the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, officials said.
