1 killed, 3 injured in Winnetka in 4-vehicle crash moments after a police pursuit was initiated

One person was killed and three others suffered minor injuries Saturday in a four-vehicle crash seconds after police initiated a pursuit in the Winnetka area of Los Angeles.

The crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at 20500 W. Saticoy St., at Saticoy and Mason Avenue, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

Officers had begun to pursue a possible stolen vehicle near the location of the crash, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im told City News Service.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, Stewart said. The ages and genders of the dead and injured were not immediately available.

An investigation was underway at the crash scene, Im said.
