You won’t want to miss these great Latino acts in Chicago this fall

Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off a couple weeks ago, but there’s still a long list of events continuing through mid-October. Here are some of the best, from music to film to comedy:

Nicki Nicole: The Argentinean singer considered the leader of the urban music movement in her country will debut in Chicago as part of her first tour in the United States. October 1, 6:30 p.m. Cermak Hall Radius, 640 W. Cermak Rd. $60+. tix.axs.com.

2024 Destinos: The seventh edition of the Chicago International Latino Theater Festival will present until November 17 and in various locations throughout the city, works such as “El cohete” (Argentina); “Desvenar” (Mexico); “La memoria de los sésiles” (Chile) and “Desaparecidas” (New York). clata.org.

Peso Pluma: After his performance Sueños Festival was canceled in May due to a storm warning—for the third time cancelling in Chicago—the Mexican singer and current sensation of the corridos tumbados and Latin trap genres is promising not one, but two concerts. Los Temerarios: The Mexican brothers Adolfo and Gustavo Ángel lead this group that has put out international hits like “Sé que te amo,” “Como te Recuerdo” and “Una lágrima no basta,” and returns for their farewell tour “Hasta Siempre.” Oct. 17, 8 p.m. Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Sones de México: The local group celebrates the Day of the Dead with a concert that invites the audience to participate in the creation of an altar to remember loved ones who have already departed this world. Lila Downs: The Mexican-American singer-songwriter, whose most recent album is “La Sánchez” (2023), in which she pays tribute to her legacy and maternal surname, is performing at this Day of the Dead celebration, joined by the Chicago Mexican Folkloric Dance Company.
