Yankees Trade Idea Lands All-Star SP for Jasson Dominguez

The New York Yankees are entering the 2026 season with big expectations. After finishing this past campaign with a strong 94-68 record, they once again fell short during the playoffs. As a result of this, they will be looking to have more success in the postseason this time around and win their first World Series championship since 2009.

The Yankees made some notable moves during the offseason that should benefit them this campaign. This most notably re-signed star slugger Cody Bellinger to a five-year, $162.5 million contract in free agency. They also re-signed multiple other players from last season’s roster, like Trent Grisham, Ryan Yarbrough, Paul Goldschmidt, Amed Rosario, and Paul Blackburn. The American League East club also added Ryan Weathers through a trade with the Miami Marlins.

With this, the Yankees are once again looking strong on paper. However, at the same time, it is clear that they could use another impactful starting pitcher. This is especially so when noting that they are dealing with injury trouble with Opening Day just about here.

As a result of this, a new trade pitch has come out that would have the Yankees land an All-Star pitcher and two intriguing prospects from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for outfielder Jasson Dominguez.

New York Yankees Trade Pitch Sends Jasson Dominguez to KC Royals for Kris Bubic & Prospects

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Kerry Miller discussed seven blockbuster trade pitches with Opening Day almost here. The Yankees were one of the teams mentioned in Miller’s piece with a big trade pitch.

In Miller’s trade pitch, he had the Yankees send Dominguez to the Royals in exchange for All-Star pitcher Kris Bubic, lefty David Shields, and outfielder Asbel Gonzalez.

“Bubic is making $6.1M in his final arbitration-eligible season before hitting free agency this winter, and the Royals have a deep enough rotation that they could move him if the right offer came along. They would probably pounce at the opportunity to swap him for Jasson Domínguez: a league-minimum outfielder with a sky-high ceiling and five remaining years of team control,” Miller wrote.

If this trade pitch came to fruition, it would undoubtedly be a big one. While Dominguez has been the subject of trade rumors since the offseason, the Yankees moving him would be significant, as he is one of their most promising youngsters. The Royals trading Bubic would also make headlines, as the 28-year-old just had an All-Star campaign and is right in his prime.

Why This Yankees-Royals Trade Pitch Would Benefit Both Sides

While trading Dominguez would undoubtedly be risky for the Yankees, this trade pitch would benefit them if it happened. The Yankees are dealing with serious injury trouble with their pitching rotation to start the year, and Bubic would undoubtedly help them because of it. The 6-foot-3 lefty would give the Yankees another star to work with on the mound, as evidenced by his 8-7 record and 2.55 ERA last season.

With Shields, the Yankees would be landing the Royals’ best left-handed pitching prospect and fourth-best prospect overall. With Gonzalez, they would get an interesting young outfielder who could blossom into a major-league talent later down the road.

As for the Royals, they would get a former top prospect in Dominguez who has the potential to become a star in the majors. He would be a perfect fit on a Royals team on the rise, as he would have far more opportunities to shine.
