Yankees Star Aaron Judge Under Fire After WBC Championship

New York Yankees superstar outfielder Aaron Judge has wrapped up his time playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.

After a rollercoaster run, Team USA failed to come away with a championship win. They ended up falling to Venezuela in the championship by a final score of 3-2.

Judge did not have a very good run in the WBC this year. He was unable to be the superstar that he has been for years with the Yankees.

When all was said and done, Judge ended up hitting two home runs to go along with five RBI and a slash line of .222/.364/.481.

Needless to say, that production was nothing close to what Team USA needed. Fans have started throwing backlash at Judge over disappearing when his team needed him the most. That has become a frustration for many fans with him in New York come playoff time.

Fans were all over the social media platform X throwing shade at Judge for his performance, especially the no-show 0-for-4 game in the championship against Venezuela.

“This loss is on Aaron judge I’m sorry had multiple chances to come up clutch and he wouldn’t even swing the bat the last two at bats lmao he doesn’t need to be captain for team USA ever again,” one fan wrote.

Another commented, “TRUE OR FALSE: AARON JUDGE IS THE LEAST CLUTCH SUPERSTAR IN SPORTS HISTORY…?”

“I feel like you can physically see Aaron Judge’s body freeze up in big moments. I wouldn’t wish being a Yankee fan on my worst enemy. Must be infuriating,” polarizing analyst Dave Portnoy said.

A fifth comment read, “Aaron Judge can’t win championship confirmed.”

Judge Will Look To Turn Things Around With the Yankees

Now that the World Baseball Championship is officially over, all eyes will turn to the upcoming 2026 MLB season.

With Opening Day right around the corner, the Yankees are hoping to make a World Series run. After having a very quiet MLB offseason compared to most, New York will be relying heavily on Judge to lead the team offensively.

Judge will likely welcome the opportunity to get his performance in the WBC championship out of his mind. The criticism he is facing is fair, but it’s also a bit harsh.

Since coming into Major League Baseball back in 2016, he has been one of the best hitters in the league. In 1,145 career games played, Judge has hit 368 home runs to go along with 830 RBI and a slash line of .294/.413/.615.

In the playoffs, he has done himself no favors. He has a career postseason slash line of .236/.346/.476, showing a clear dropoff from the regular season to the playoffs.
