Yankees Former Top Prospect Named Offseason Trade Candidate

The New York Yankees brought in a notable outfielder ahead of the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline, as they acquired Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Henry LaLane and Kaeden Kent. With Ramos being under team control through the 2029 season, he has the potential to be a very solid long-term addition for the Yankees.

Yet, with the Yankees bringing in Ramos from the Giants, could it end up leading them to move on from another one of their outfielders this offseason? One of them is already starting to create some trade speculation for next offseason.

In a recent article for CBS Sports, Mike Axisa listed Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez among the trade candidates to watch for this upcoming offseason.

“Other super-early offseason trade candidates: OF Jasson Dominguez, Yankees,” Axisa wrote.

When noting that questions about Dominguez’s future with the Yankees have come up for a while now, it is not surprising to see him be named as a trade candidate to watch for the offseason. The 23-year-old outfielder could use a change of scenery at this point, and he could be a solid trade chip for the Yankees to dangle to land another high-impact player.

Yankees’ Jasson Dominguez’s Struggles to Break Out Could Make Him Expendable

The Yankees entered this season with the hope that Dominguez would take that next step for them. It is understandable, as he was once the Yankees’ top prospect and is still very young. However, he has had a pretty quiet year for the Yankees, as he has recorded six home runs, 14 RBI, and a .230 batting average in 53 games. This is after he had 10 home runs, 47 RBI, and a .257 batting average in 123 games with the Yankees during the 2025 season.

Due to this tough year and the Yankees’ moves at the trade deadline, Dominguez was recently optioned back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With this, it is entirely understandable that he is already being viewed as an offseason trade candidate. He currently does not fit on the Yankees’ major league roster, and it could benefit him to get a fresh start elsewhere because of it.

Why Yankees’ Dominguez Could Generate Trade Interest This Offseason

Although Dominguez is having trouble taking that next step with the Yankees, it would not be surprising in the slightest if he generates a good amount of trade interest around the league this offseason. With Dominguez being just 23 years old and a former top prospect, there are likely multiple teams that would be willing to take a chance on him.

Due to this, he could be exactly the kind of young player who the Yankees include in a trade to help them land an immediate upgrade on their roster that would help them in 2027. There is still plenty about Dominguez’s game that could make teams interested, and it will be interesting to see if the Yankees end up moving him this offseason because of it. Perhaps a trade could be exactly what helps unlock the former Yankees top prospect, but time will tell if he gets moved.
