Yankees Fan Blast Aaron Boone’s Latest Decision Involving Trent Grisham

The New York Yankees made another curious lineup decision on Saturday ahead of the second game of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

New York had Trent Grisham batting ninth on Friday, and despite his struggles, he’s back in the leadoff spot on Saturday.

It’s an interesting lineup decision to have Grisham back in the leadoff spot, despite his struggles, and Yankees fans weren’t pleased.

Yankees Fans Blast Grisham Leading Off

After New York announced its lineup on Saturday, Yankees fans weren’t happy that Grisham was leading off.

“They really going to die on the hill of Grisham leading off vs right handers,” a fan wrote.

“Message to Aaron Boone. You are not going to win a WS with Trent leadoff. You will with Rice,” a fan added.

“Jasson. Glad it was nothing serious.. Grisham has no business leading off ever. Pretend it’s softball and hit him tenth..,” a fan wrote.

“Grisham leading off is a joke,” a fan added.

Grisham accepted the one-year qualifying offer this offseason after a stellar 2025 season, but he has struggled this season.

“Why tf you guys starting grisham again. Get that bum off this team,” a fan wrote.

“Cabby, Belli and Dominguez are all better options to bat leadoff than Grisham is. Or just do Rice and Judge batting 1 and 2,” a fan added.

“WHY IS GRISHAM LEADING OFF! Put him in the 9 hole and hope his defense doesn’t atrophy anymore,” a fan wrote.

“Please test it with Rice and Judge first and second, Trent doesn’t have a first-place average in the order,” a fan wrote.

Grisham is hitting .155 with 4 home runs and 16 RBIs this season and is hitting .120 with 1 home run and 2 RBIs in his last 7 games.

New York Wins Game 1 of Series

The Yankees are coming off a 7-2 win over the Orioles at home on Friday in the first game of a four-game series.

New York was led by Will Warren, who was dominant as he struck out 9 over 6.1 innings, and Boone is impressed with how the rotation has fared.

“When I look at the (rotation), it’s Max Fried. I’m not surprised by anything he has done,” Boone said. “Cam Schlittler, with what we saw last year, Will taking another step, we are excited to bring in Ryan Weathers and he has been excellent. I can’t say I’m surprised by any individual success. The fact that they have put a two-week run with that kind of excellence, pitching deep into the game, that’s hard to come by.”

The Yankees rotation, meanwhile, is also getting close to having Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon back from injury, which will only strengthen their rotation even more.

“I think we are going to have the best staff in all of baseball,” Warren said. “When they come back, the best pitchers are going to pitch the majority of the innings. I have to make sure I can go out there and do my job.”

The Yankees are 21-11 and atop the AL East.
