Yankees’ Aaron Judge Drops Major Quote on Mike Trout After Win

The New York Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels 11-10 on Monday night at Yankee Stadium. The win ended a five-game slide that had exposed problems across the roster. The bullpen gave up six runs in relief. The infield defense continued to struggle. Will Warren could not get through his start cleanly.

None of that mattered by the end of the ninth inning. The Yankees outhit every problem on the field and walked off on a wild pitch by Romano that scored José Caballero from third. Trent Grisham launched two home runs, including a game-tying shot. The offense produced an impressive 11 runs on the night.

But the story of the night belonged to two players who spent the game trading punches in the Bronx. Aaron Judge homered twice. Mike Trout homered twice.

After the game, Judge made his feelings clear.

What Judge Said About Trout

Judge did not hesitate when asked about the 3x MVP.

“He’s the greatest…he’s the greatest of all-time,” said Judge. “He’s been fun to watch his whole career”

The praise was genuine. The respect between the two runs deep.

“I was going to talk some smack to him after the one he hit all the way to the warning track and say hit the weight room, but I didn’t get a chance to,” Judge said with a laugh.

Judge opened the scoring with a 456-foot blast in the first inning. Trout answered with a three-run shot in the sixth to tie it. Judge responded with a go-ahead solo homer minutes later. Trout came back again in the eighth with a 445-foot drive that put the Angels ahead.

It was the 2nd time in MLB history that two three-time MVPs each hit 2+ home runs in the same game.

Judge Passes Mantle

The two-homer night gave Judge 47 career multi-homer games, one more than Mickey Mantle managed in pinstripes. Ruth sits alone ahead of him with 68 for the Yankees and 72 overall.

“That’s special,’’ Judge said of passing Mantle. “I’m glad it came in a win. Hopefully, we can keep going.”

Judge now has six home runs on the season.

The Bigger Picture in The Bronx

The win moved New York to 9-7, but Judge kept it short when asked about it postgame.

“It ends that losing streak, that’s about it,” Judge said.

The bullpen still has some questions to answer. Parts of the lineup are still searching for consistency. But Monday showed what this team looks like when the offense carries its share of the load. Eleven runs is a step in the right direction after a stretch where the bats went quiet.

Final Word for the Yankees

Monday night was a reminder of what happens when two generational talents share the same field and refuse to let the other have the last word. Judge and Trout went back and forth in an epic contest.

Judge’s words after the game told the whole story. He called Trout the greatest of all time. That kind of recognition from someone operating at Judge’s level carries real weight.

And nights like Monday are why people fall in love with the game.
