WWE Part Ways With More Superstars, New Day and MFT Members Depart

On April 24, WWE released 26 superstars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, Evolve and WWE ID.

Some of the notable names who departed the company last week include Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega and all members of The Wyatt Sicks.

It was a shocking decision, though releases typically happen after WrestleMania. Plenty of NXT stars were called up to the main roster, including Ethan Page, Sol Ruca, Ricky Saints, Blake Monroe and Fatal Influence.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select and Cory Hays of BodySlam, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day have mutually agreed to part ways with WWE.

The New Day has been a mainstay in WWE’s tag team division since 2014. They are considered one of the greatest teams in pro wrestling history. They are 13-time tag team champions and leave a lasting legacy behind.

As an individual, Kingston has been with the company since 2006. He debuted on the main roster in 2007 and quickly became a fan favorite. He finally reached the mountaintop at WrestleMania 35, when he defeated Daniel Bryan to become the WWE Champion.

Kingston is also a four-time Intercontinental Champion, a three-time United States Champion, a Triple Crown winner and a Grand Slam Champion.

Meanwhile, Woods joined WWE in 2010 after spending the early years of his career in TNA Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In addition to being a 13-time Tag Team Champion, Woods was the 2021 King of the Ring winner. He also built a successful YouTube channel called UpUpDownDown.

Sean Ross Sapp and Cory Hays also reported that JC Mateo and Tonga Loa of The MFT are gone from WWE. Mateo and Loa were written off television last week following an attack by Jacob Fatu.

They were both absent from Friday’s episode of SmackDown, with Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga in the main event.

Mateo arrived in WWE back in May 2025, joining The Bloodline 2.0. He was more famously known as Jeff Cobb, who won titles at NJPW, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Ring of Honor and Lucha Underground.

On the other hand, Loa returned to WWE in May 2024. He previously wrestled as Camacho from 2009 to 2014. He joined his brother Tama Tonga at NJPW, forming the Guerillas of Destiny, a subgroup of the Bullet Club.

As part of GoD, the Tonga brothers were seven-time IWGP Tag Team Champions. In WWE, they were one-time WWE Tag Team Champions.
