Wrong-way driver kills man in four-car crash on I-290 near Hillside

A Chicago man died after a wrong way driver caused a four-vehicle crash on I-290 near Hillside on Sunday morning, Illinois State Police said.

State troopers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver and crash at 4:17 a.m. on I-290 near Wolf Road, police said. All drivers and passengers were taken to nearby hospitals. A 61-year-old Chicago man later died, according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

All eastbound lanes were closed until 10:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
