Woman killed in Aurora shooting, man arrested on suspicion of murder

A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died from her injuries in a Friday shooting, Aurora police said.

Stanley Daves and the victim were inside a car together on Friday when they began arguing and Daves shot the woman, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department. She died from her injuries Saturday morning.

The woman will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in a parking lot in the 600 block of North Peoria Street, just north of Del Mar Park, at about 5:15 p.m. Friday, police said.

When the officers arrived, they found the woman who had been shot on the ground of the parking lot and Daves inside the car with a gun, police said.

Paramedics took the woman to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries, police said Saturday.

Daves is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning for an advisement hearing, according to court records.
