Woman in custody after 2 stabbed in carjacking, crash in Garfield Ridge

A woman was in custody after two people were stabbed in a carjacking and traffic crash Thursday morning in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood.

A 41-year-old woman was walking to her Nissan Rogue in the 5100 block of South Rutherford Avenue when a woman approached and stabbed her in the chest and arm before taking her vehicle about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Chicago police said.

The woman was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was in critical condition, police said.

Minutes later, the woman who stole the Nissan crashed into a parked vehicle less than a mile away in the 5100 block of South Mulligan Avenue and stabbed a 30-year-old man who heard the collision and approached her, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

The woman suffered “minor injuries” from the crash and she was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, officials said.

She was arrested and charges were pending.
