A 26-year-old woman died of her injuries after a shooting Sunday outside an east Lakewood apartment building, police said Tuesday.
Lakewood police responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of South Kendall Street, around 8:30 p.m., agency officials said. The area is in the Greenbriar Cloverdale neighborhood near Lasley Elementary School.
Officers found one woman with a gunshot wound and she was taken to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Department officials declined to release further information about the shooting because of the ongoing investigation. Police do not believe there is an “active threat” to the community, the agency said on X.
