Woman critically hurt in I-57 wreck on Far South Side

A woman was critically hurt when the car she lost control of the car she was driving and slammed into a guard rail late Wednesday night on I-57 in the Morgan Park neighborhood.

The driver of a gray Nissan rammed into the guard rail around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the inbound lanes near 111th Street, coming to rest on the concrete wall, Illinois state police said.

The driver and lone occupant of the Nissan was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, state police said.

The roadway reopened at approximately 12:55 a.m.
