A 19-year-old woman was shot and killed while driving Thursday night in New City on the South Side.
The woman was heading through an alley just before 6 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 47th Street when someone approached her and fired shots, Chicago police said.
She suffered gunshot wounds to her face and chest. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Her name hasn’t been released.
A person of interest was taken into custody for questioning, and a firearm was recovered, police said.
