‘Win Now’ Broncos Trade Swaps 12-TD RB for AFC Superstar

There is no time for the Denver Broncos to stand on ceremony in 2026 and develop younger players they think might be good 1 day, or wait around for someone to tap into their potential.

It’s win now or win never.

That’s why the Locked on Broncos podcast proposed a trade that would swap 2nd year running back RJ Harvey for New York Jets running back Breece Hall — a deal that would likely involved the Broncos throwing in a draft pick.

Much like wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who the Broncos recently acquired in a trade, Hall has been a name Broncos fans have been tracking for most of the last year as the Jets have dismantled their roster and the Broncos have built up theirs.

From Locked on Broncos: “If push came to shove, I would trade RJ Harvey for Breece Hall. It’s a win-now move … I mean, I think they’re the same age. I think RJ might even be older than Breece Hall. So I would definitely do that. I think Breece Hall would come with the idea he’s going to sign a long-term contract, right? So right now RJ Harvey has 3 years left on his his deal and Breece is on the tag, but you would probably give him a 3-year or 4-year contract on top of that.”

Tale of the Tape Between RJ Harvey & Breece Hall

Harvey, a 2025 2nd-round pick, served as the backup to starter J.K. Dobbins before Dobbins suffered a season-ending injury in Week 10 and Harvey was forced into the starting role.

In 17 games and 7 starts, Harvey finished with 896 yards of total offense and a whopping 12 total touchdowns.

Harvey is 25 years old and entering his 2nd NFL season. Hall is only 24 years old and about to play his 5th NFL season, which includes 3 consecutive seasons of over 1,300 yards of total offense and his 1st 1,000-yard rushing season in 2025.

One Trade Proposal Keeps Harvey in Fold

Heavy’s Max Dible proposed a trade that would bring Hall to the Broncos in exchange for 2 draft picks — the Broncos’ 2nd round pick (No. 94) and 7th round pick (No. 245 overall) in the 2026 NFL draft.

“The Denver Broncos need a legit No. 1 running back and Breece Hall is precisely that,” Dible said. “The Jets franchised Hall with the likely intent of trading him, and while $14.3 million is an overpay in 2026, the Broncos can work out a more team-friendly long-term deal after getting Hall onto the roster. Pairing one of the NFL’s best RBs with one of its best defenses has made sense since football first became a professional sport. Beyond that, Hall is a good pass-catcher out of the backfield and uniquely skilled to help Denver QB Bo Nix, whose injury may have cost the Broncos a trip to the Super Bowl in February.”

Hall’s franchise tag for 2026 is scheduled to pay him $14.293 million — a number the Broncos might happily pay if it keeps them away from having to commit to a long-term extension and they think Hall is the player who might lift them into a Super Bowl.
