Wildfire smoke closes Colorado 67 near Douglas County park

Smoke from a small wildfire burning near a Douglas County park closed Colorado 67 on Friday afternoon, fire officials said.

The Dotts fire started burning near Dotts Park, north of Deckers, at around 10:42 a.m., the Elk Creek Fire Department said in a post on Facebook.

Firefighters closed Colorado 67 because of smoke at 11:27 a.m.

Flames were running through grass and brush, pushed by 20 mph winds, when crews arrived. Firefighters are securing the edge of the 3-acre fire, but the interior is still burning because of the wind, fire officials said just after noon.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
