WARE, England — A local reporter on Wednesday asked Bears players why European fans should adopt their team. A sampling of answers:
Receiver DJ Moore: “We’re the best team out there — one of the original teams, maybe the original team.”
Quarterback Caleb Williams: “The Bears have wonderful colors.”
General manager Ryan Poles: “You’ve got a talented roster that is going to be talented for a long period of time and as we continue to grow and start making deeper and deeper runs into the postseason, I think it’s going to be a team that everyone is going to follow.”
This and that
• Bears president/CEO Kevin Warren reiterated that he was studying the new NFL rule that allows private equity firms to invest in 10% of a team as silent partners.
“At this point in time, it’s not something that we’re focused on and exploring in Chicago,” he said.
• The Bears’ injury report estimated practice participation because the team held a walk-through. Slot cornerback Kyler Gordon (heel) and Jenkins (ankle) would have been limited.
• Defensive end Jacob Martin (foot) began is 21-day practice window after starting the year on injured reserve. He’s started 15 career games over six years, recording 18 sacks.
• Did Moore enjoy beating his former team, the Panthers, last week?
“Amazing,” he said. “Put a dagger in their heart.”
