The White Sox will sign free agent outfielder Austin Slater to a major league contract, according to a report by the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Terms of the deal were not known.
The right-handed Slater, 31, had a slash line of .209/.321/.266 in 84 games with the Giants, Reds and Orioles last season. He made his MLB debut in 2017 with the Giants and had spent most of his career in the San Francisco organization. After joining the Orioles at the trade deadline, Slater hit .246/.342/.333.
Slater could be a right-handed outfield platoon option for the White Sox in 2025.
