White Sox sign catcher Omar Narvaez to minor league deal

The White Sox plugged in some veteran catching depth Friday with the signing of Omar Narvaez, who played his first three seasons with the Sox in 2016-18.

The left-handed hitting Narvaez, 32, who signed a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, batted a combined .200/.276/.286 over the last three seasons between the Brewers and Mets.

The Sox traded Narvaez to the Mariners for closer Alex Colome after the 2018 season. He played one year in Seattle before joining the Brewers, having an All-Star season in 2021.

The Sox have catchers Korey Lee and Matt Thaiss on the 40-man roster with Triple-A catchers Kyle Teel and Edger Quero, their No. 2 and No. 6 prospects, respectively, seemingly close to making debuts in 2025. Teel was the top prospect among four acquired from the Red Sox for All-Star lefty Garrett Crochet in December.
