Not long after being designated for assignment by the White Sox and claimed off waivers by the Orioles, infielder Jake Amaya was claimed off waivers from the Orioles Monday. Outfielder Zach DeLoach was DFA’d to make room on the 40-man roster.
Amaya, 26, was DFA’d by Baltimore on January 27. A good fielder who struggled offensively, Amaya appeared in 24 games between the Sox and Astros last season, hitting .176.
The left-handed hitting DeLoach, 26, batted .209 with one homer, five doubles and five RBI over 22 games with the Sox in 2024. He was acquired from the Mariners with right-hander Prelander Berroa and the 69th pick in the 2024 draft for right-hander Gregory Santos.
Following the claim, the Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
