Where to recycle Christmas trees in Chicago

It’s officially time to take down the Christmas tree — and give it new life by bringing it to one of the city’s tree recycling locations and possibly score some free mulch.

Chicago residents can drop off their live or natural trees at one of the city’s 27 locations starting Saturday until Jan. 25. All ornaments, lights or other decorations, as well as tree stands or plastic bags for transport must be removed before the tree is dropped off.

More information can be found online or by calling 312-744-2413.

At locations marked with an asterisk, free mulch will be available for pick up starting Monday.
