County funds nonprofits
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved a plan to use federal dollars to support groups that serve vulnerable communities in the West Valley.
Organizations like Live Oak Adult Day Services in Los Gatos and West Valley Community Services (WVCS) in Cupertino will receive the funding, according to a press release from Supervisor Joe Simitian’s office. WVCS serves Cupertino, Los Gatos, Saratoga and West San Jose.
“With this funding, more households at risk of eviction or utility cutoffs will be able to access emergency financial assistance to stay in their homes and keep the lights on,” Simitian said. “More seniors will be able to access adult day care programs, where they can socialize and receive free legal services to help them live safely and independently. And more families can easily be connected to case management support and crucial resources.”
The funds come from the county’s annual action plan for the use of federal funds from the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership Act programs, which consist of about $4 million.
