Waukegan police shot and killed a man who attempted suicide Saturday afternoon.
Three officers responded to a call around 3 p.m. in the 1000 block of Leith Avenue for a person “who had attempted to commit suicide,” Waukegan Police said in a news release.
The shooting victim was a 58-year-old Waukegan man. First responders provided aid, but he died at the scene, according to police. The department did not provide details of what led to the shooting.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
