Warriors Linked to Versatile Two-Way Forward in Latest Mock Draft

The Golden State Warriors have a pivotal offseason ahead. The roster needs replenishing, the coaching situation remains unresolved, and the front office faces a series of decisions that will shape the franchise’s direction for years to come. One of the first major events on the calendar is the NBA Draft, where Golden State is projected to hold the No. 11 pick pending the May 10 lottery.

With a loaded draft class on the horizon, mock drafts have begun painting a picture of who Golden State might target. The latest projection from Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor has the Warriors landing a versatile two-way forward with an intriguing international pedigree.

Who O’Connor Projects to the Warriors

At No. 11, O’Connor connects the Warriors with Karim Lopez, a forward who has spent the last two seasons in New Zealand’s NBL with the Breakers as part of the league’s Next Stars program.

O’Connor describes Lopez as a smart cutter, a reliable shooter, and a versatile defender, noting that his two-way ability would work well with Golden State’s needs. The Warriors have long valued players who can contribute on both ends without needing the ball in their hands, and Lopez fits that profile.

What Lopez Brings to the Table

Lopez grew up in Mexico and began his professional career in Spain at 14 with Joventut Badalona in the Liga ACB. The NBL has been his proving ground over the last two seasons.

In 31 games with the Breakers last season, he averaged 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals on 50.2 percent shooting in under 26 minutes per game. His season high was 32 points on 11-of-13 shooting against Melbourne United in January.

The three-point shooting at 32.6 percent will need to improve at the NBA level. The overall efficiency and defensive versatility have drawn attention from scouts. Lopez would join NBL alumni including LaMelo Ball, Josh Giddey, and Alex Sarr in making the jump to the league.

What It Would Mean for the Warriors

Golden State needs youth, upside, and versatility in this draft. Draymond Green remains the defensive identity of this team, and a forward who brings that same hard-nosed approach on both ends would fit naturally into what the Warriors value culturally.

The No. 11 pick is not confirmed until the lottery on May 10. Where Golden State ultimately lands will shape which prospects are realistically available. The first round of the draft takes place June 23 in Brooklyn.

Final Word for the Warriors

One mock draft projection does not determine what happens on draft night. What it does is signal that evaluators around the league see Lopez as a realistic fit for what Golden State needs.

Youth, versatility, and two-way capability. The Warriors have built championships around those qualities before. Lopez is one name worth watching as the draft approaches.
