Von Miller is not being subtle about where he wants to play next season.
According to Walter Footballâs Charlie Campbell, the veteran pass rusher was seen at the NFL Scouting Combine lobbying members of the Denver Broncos front office about a possible return.
âWitnessed last night at the NFL Scouting Combine, veteran pass rusher Von Miller was talking and lobbying Broncos front office members to bring him back to Denver next season,â Campbell posted on X. âMiller really wants to be a Bronco again.â
The message is very clear: Miller wants to come home.
The 35-year-old edge rusher has hinted at a reunion for months, both publicly and on his podcast, but this is the most direct report yet of him making his case face to face.
With free agency approaching and the Broncos evaluating their roster, Millerâs presence at the Combine added another layer to an already intriguing offseason.
Insider Spots Von Miller Making Case to Broncos
Campbellâs report paints a picture of Miller actively working the room in Indianapolis.
According to the post, Miller was lobbying decision makers about returning to Denver next season. For a player who was once the face of the franchise, that kind of effort speaks volumes.
Miller was the Broncosâ No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft and quickly developed into one of the most dominant defensive players in team history. He was the driving force behind Denverâs Super Bowl 50 victory, recording 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in the win over Carolina and earning Super Bowl MVP honors.
Even after Peyton Manning retired, Miller remained a cornerstone of the defense until he was traded during the 2021 season.
Since leaving Denver, Miller has added another Super Bowl ring. He has also continued to produce as a rotational pass rusher. Last season he recorded nine sacks in a limited role, showing he still has something left in the tank.
Is There Room for a Broncos Reunion?
As much as Miller may want a return, the bigger question is whether the Broncos can make it work.
Denverâs outside linebacker room is one of the teamâs strengths. Nik Bonitto has emerged as a Pro Bowl caliber player, and Jonathon Cooper has delivered consistent production on his second contract. Behind them are young, developing players the organization invested draft capital in.
Miller has openly said he would be willing to mentor the younger rushers and contribute in any way possible. On his podcast earlier this year, he expressed a desire to return and share what he has learned with the next generation.
Still, the Broncos cannot make this decision based on emotion. It has to work financially and it has to make sense with the current roster.
Miller has made it clear he wants to come back. Now it is up to the Broncos to decide if they feel the same way.
