Could Von Miller return to the Bills? General manager Brandon Beane addressed the possibility, offering an update on discussions involving the veteran pass rusher as Buffalo continues evaluating options before the regular season.
Asked directly about bringing Miller back, Beane said he talks to the 37-year-old “all the time” and would “always be open to the idea,” but added there was “nothing imminent” beyond that, according to Bills reporter Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com.
The Buffalo News reporter Jay Skurski noted that the question arose specifically because of Miller’s recent Bills-centric social media posts, a wave of activity that has fueled speculation among fans for weeks. Fellow The Buffalo News reporter Lance Lysowski added that Beane called Miller one of roughly a dozen former Bills the organization would welcome back “under the right circumstances,” stopping short of describing any formal negotiations.
Beane Addresses Von Miller’s Buffalo Bills Return
The comments follow a string of posts from Miller that have only added fuel to the speculation. He recently shared a photo of himself in the Buffalo locker room wearing Bills gear, captioned “Unfinished business” along with “And I’ve been waiting for this,” according to Bills On SI‘s Randy Gurzi. Miller has also posted references to former teammate Josh Allen. But he has also shared images from Dallas Cowboys training camp, keeping multiple markets on pins and needles about his next stop.
Buffalo signed Miller to a six-year, $120 million contract in March 2022, betting the former Denver Broncos star could anchor its pass rush after two Super Bowl runs, including a Super Bowl 50 MVP performance and a title with the Los Angeles Rams. The deal never fully delivered. Miller recorded 8 sacks in 11 games during his first season before a late knee injury ended his year, then managed 0 sacks in 12 games in 2023 while rehabbing. He rebounded for 6 sacks across 13 games in 2024 despite serving a suspension, before Buffalo released him in 2025 as a salary-cap move.
Von Miller’s Career Resume
Miller landed with the Washington Commanders on a one-year, $6.1 million contract for 2025 and turned back the clock, posting 9 sacks and 26 tackles across 17 games, outproducing the pass rusher who replaced him in Buffalo. For his career, Miller has piled up 138.5 sacks, 27 forced fumbles and two interceptions across 203 games, according to NFL.com’s official statistics, numbers that still rank among the best of his generation and support his case as a future Hall of Famer.
Beane has previously credited Miller for the championship mentality and locker-room presence brought to a young roster across three seasons in Buffalo, and defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson has publicly pushed the organization to bring the veteran back this offseason.
Buffalo already added pass-rush depth, signing Bradley Chubb and drafting T.J. Parker, with Greg Rousseau and Michael Hoecht also in the room. Whether Miller fits likely comes down to snap-count expectations and price, the same variables behind his one-year deal in Washington.
Miller entered this offseason as an unrestricted free agent with no reported contract talks and is currently listed as inactive on the open market. Beane’s remarks confirm Buffalo has kept the line open, but as of Friday, any reunion remains speculative rather than close at hand.
