The Minnesota Vikings appear to be gearing up for a Kyler Murray-led offense. And while the Vikings boast one of the most dynamic wide receiver duos in Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, they can further bolster the unit for Murray with DeAndre Hopkins.
Murray and Hopkins spent three seasons together as members of the Arizona Cardinals from 2020 through 2022.
After three seasons apart, a reunion could be in order.
Vikings Get Push to Sign DeAndre Hopkins
GettyDeAndre Hopkins could be a fitting option for the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings saw their third-leading receiver from last season, Jalen Nailor, sign with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency this offseason, leaving a greater void behind Addison and Jefferson that Hopkins could fill.
CBS Sports’ Jordan Dajani noted Murray and Hopkins are “very familiar” in arguing for the Vikings to add the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro.
Dajani called it a potentially “ideal” scenario for the Vikings.
“Hopkins’ first season in Arizona was one of his best, as he caught 115 passes for 1,407 yards and six touchdowns,” Dajani wrote on May 5. “The Vikings have a talented wide receiving room headlined by Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, but adding a WR3 like Hopkins who has established chemistry with Murray would be ideal.”
Hopkins posted 2,696 yards and 17 touchdowns on 221 receptions during his three seasons alongside Murray in Arizona. He has a 1,006-13,295-85 line for his career, which began as the 27th overall pick of the 2013 draft by the Houston Texans.
Hopkins has also played for the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, and Tennessee Titans in his 13-year career.
The Vikings would make for a fitting sixth NFL home for Hopkins, if they went that route.
DeAndre Hopkins Open to Kyler Murray Reunion
GettyDeAndre Hopkins and Kyler Murray spent three seasons together as members of the Arizona Cardinals.
Hopkins has been on a media tour of sorts, lauding compliments on various QBs and suggesting he would be open to various landing spots, including reuniting with Murray in Minnesota on the Vikings.
“Oh, man. Kyler’s…my boy, man. Kyler’s like family. I talked to Kyler throughout the year last year. I talked to Kyler after his situation in Arizona. So, Kyler’s like family. I would always embrace that journey with him,” Hopkins told TMZ in March. “Whatever I can do for someone like that, if Kyler needed me, he knows where I’m at. If the Vikings need me, they know they know I’ll be there. Justin Jefferson, the Vikings got one, if not the best receiver in the game.”
Hopkins believes that Murray is a “perfect” fit in Minnesota.
“I think Kyler is one of the best, accurate quarterbacks in the game,” Hopkins said of his former Cardinals (and potential Vikings) teammate.
Former Vikings Star Stefon Diggs an Option After Good News
GettyStefon Diggs could be a savvy target for the Minnesota Vikings after resolving his legal issue.
If the Vikings opt to go in a different direction than Hopkins, former franchise star Stefon Diggs could be of use.
Diggs was a fifth-round pick (146th overall) by the Vikings in the 2015 draft, and he spent the first five seasons of his career with the organization. The Vikings traded him to the Buffalo Bills in 2020, and he has also had stints with the Texans and New England Patriots.
Diggs, who was found not guilty of choking his personal chef on Tuesday, is a free agent.
He could step into that third receiver role behind Jefferson and Addison, the latter of whom has navigated his own off-field issues since entering the league.
Diggs had 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Patriots during the 2025 regular season, tacking on a 14-110-1 line in a postseason run to the Super Bowl with New England.
Diggs or Hopkins could be impactful additions for Murray and the Vikings.
