Vikings Receive Strong Message Amid Stefon Diggs Speculation

The Minnesota Vikings are looking to fill the vacant WR3 role with the departure of Jalen Nailor this offseason to the Las Vegas Raiders. Minnesota is testing the veteran free agent market after hosting Jauan Jennings on a visit.

Nonetheless, Jennings left Minnesota without a contract signed. Still, it seems the Vikings want someone with experience, which explains Jennings’ visit and Minnesota’s decision not to use a draft pick on a receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Although Jennings didn’t sign, there’s been speculation about Stefon Diggs returning for a second stint with the Vikings. Moreover, Diggs’ legal issue is behind him after he was found not guilty on May 5 of assaulting his private chef in a pay dispute.

Now the question for Minnesota is, should they pursue Diggs? Former NFL player Mark Schlereth said any team considering the veteran should do so on a short-term basis.

“He was the consummate professional for New England,” Schlereth said on the May 6 edition of the “Stinkin’ Truth” podcast. “Now, he is one of those guys who has some off-field or away-from-the-facility baggage that teams are going to have to deal with. Remember the boat stuff last year, which did not go over well.

But on the field and in the facility, people raved about what he did and what he brought to the younger players and the other receivers in that organization. So, here is a guy who has played for a long time. Here is a guy you may not want long-term.

Stefon Diggs Could Elevate Any Team’s Wideout Room

Moreover, Schlereth shared that he expects Diggs, who played last season with the New England Patriots, to sign with a team now, so they won’t need to worry about any off-the-field distractions entering their team facilities.

This is the perfect opportunity to see what a couple of rookie and first-year receivers bring to the table through minicamps and OTAs,Schlereth added.Let [the teams] sit on the list of guys who could come in and help if needed in June. If you are looking at Stefon Diggs, he looks like a potential mid-June training camp signing who could be brought in as a short-term boost if necessary.

He is a guy that you can sign for one year, and he can come in. He’ll be on his, you know, quote-unquote, best behavior, regardless of his off-the-field antics or some of the things that he does. But when it comes to work ethic and the way he operated last year for the Patriots, man, he would be a guy that would come in and elevate your receiving room without question.

Vikings Predicted as Landing Spot for Stefon Diggs

With the trade of Jonathan Greenard, Minnesota has roughly $16 million in cap space, per OverTheCap. As a result, the Vikings have a little more money to spend. Bleacher Report’s Joseph Zucker believes that the Vikings should be one of the teams looking to land the veteran free agent receiver.

Would one of Diggs’ old teams consider a reunion?” Zucker wrote in his April 25 article. “Jordan Addison has yet to make a true breakthrough with the Minnesota Vikings. The team’s depth really falls off once you get past him and Justin Jefferson as well.

The Vikings have one quarterback on a one-year contract (Kyler Murray) and another who may be heading into a make-or-break season (J.J. McCarthy). Bringing Diggs back to Minneapolis has some merit.
