Vikings Get Ripped for ‘Worst’ 2026 Offseason Decision

he Minnesota Vikings traded away Jonathan Greenard on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft. In return, they received 2026 and 2027 third round selections. Thus, Dallas Turner is now a starting edge rusher in the Twin Cities.

Dallas Turner was drafted 17th overall by Minnesota in the 2024 NFL Draft. It was quite the shock, seeing as all the talk surrounding the Vikings that year was regarding a QB. Minnesota did end up drafting J.J. McCarthy, but many thought the Vikings would have to use both first round picks they had that year to trade up.

Minnesota did technically trade up for McCarthy, though it was only one spot to secure McCarthy. The major trade up actually came when Minnesota went from 23rd to 17th to acquire Dallas Turner. Minnesota sent Jacksonville 23rd overall and 167th overall in 2024, as well as 3rd and 4th rounders in 2025 to move up.

Now, with Greenard gone, it is Dallas Turner’s time to shine. Per a recent ESPN piece, trading Greenard away was not the right decision by the Minnesota Vikings.

Bill Barnwell of ESPN recently released a piece detailing each NFL teams best and worst moves so far during the 2026 NFL offseason. While signing Kyler Murray was Barnwell’s best move for the Vikings, trading away Greenard was their worst.

I can understand why the Vikings traded Greenard. Although he was excellent when healthy in his two years with Minnesota, injuries limited him to three sacks in 12 games in Year 2 after he racked up 12 sacks in Year 1. The Vikings traded significant draft capital in 2024 to move up for Dallas Turner in the first round, and while I’m not sure his eight-sack total from 2025 really reflects Turner’s true impact on the field, you can understand why the Vikings want to open up a starting role for the Alabama product. With Greenard wanting a new contract, a trade made sense.”

The trade surely is a gamble for the Vikings. While Dallas Turner is a promising prospect, but there is no concrete evidence yet that he will be a star. Still, the Vikings are justified in putting their faith in the young man.

You are supposed to invest in your young talent and give them their rightful chance in relation to their draft stock. Only time will tell if Dallas Turner can fill the cleats of Jonathan Greenard.

Tom Pelissero broke the news on X.

The Vikings agreed to terms with Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley as their general manager, sources tell NFL Network. Fresh off a Super Bowl win, Teasley — regarded as one of the NFL’s top young executives — now will try to bring a Lombardi Trophy to Minnesota.”

The Vikings will now look toward the future with a young executive that’s been a part of some big accomplishments in Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks’ official website provided a summary of Teasley’s duties with the franchise.

Nolan Teasley, who participated in the NFL’s Accelerator Program in May of 2026, is in his 14th season with the Seahawks, fourth as assistant general manager, following five seasons as director of pro personnel (2018-22), one season as assistant director of pro personnel (2017) and three seasons as a pro personnel scout (2014-16). He originally joined the Seahawks in 2013 as an intern in the team’s scouting department. Within his role, Teasley oversees football operations while working collaboratively with President of Football Operations/General Manager John Schneider in all aspects of player acquisition via the draft, free agency and trade proposals.

Teasley becomes the 9th GM in Vikings’ history, and it will of course, be his first stint as an NFL General Manager for any franchise.
