Viking Add 1,300-Yard WR Behind Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison

The Minnesota Vikings went into NFL draft weekend in need of a third wide receiver behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and emerged with one on Saturday, though the team didn’t use any of its picks to acquire him.

Minnesota added former Georgia Bulldogs wideout Dillon Bell to the team as an undrafted rookie free agent signing on April 25, according to a report from Jordan Schultz on social media.

Lance Zierlein of NFL Network projected Bell as a sixth-round pick leading into the draft following his four-year career in the SEC, during which Bell tallied a total of 119 catches for 1,269 yards and 11 TDs. He added 373 rushing yards and five scores on the ground.

Bell ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine in February and also recorded a 39-inch vertical leap. He measured in at just under six-feet, one-inch tall and weighed 209 pounds.

“[Bell is a] big, strong, explosive receiver requiring specific usage on the next level,” Zierlein wrote. “He is top-notch with the ball in his hands on reverses, jet-sweeps and quick hitches. He has the ability to create chunk runs after breaking tackles.”

Bell’s issues include “below-average hands,” according to Zierlein. However, Minnesota may have some interest in him due to his “manufactured-touch talent” and ability as a kick returner.

Vikings Likely to Add Veteran Wide Receiver With More Pass-Catching Prowess Than Dillon Bell, Tai Felton

Bell’s addition in Minnesota will put him in competition with Tai Felton, a third-round pick out of Maryland last year who spent most of his rookie campaign on special teams.

That said, the presence of both Bell and Felton isn’t likely to dissuade the Vikings from pursuing another, more established veteran pass-catcher in what remains of the free agent market.

“The Vikings need to start stocking the wide receiver room,” Judd Zulgad of SKOR North contended in late March. “Justin Jefferson is a superstar, but he has been hurt before, can’t count on the fact he won’t be hurt again. … Jordan Addison has missed games because of injury, because of suspension.”

“Right now, if I’m not mistaken, Tai Felton is your WR3,” Zulgad continued. “And the last time we saw Tai Felton — who they say is improving, but who knows — he was your gunner [on special teams].”

Stefon Diggs Reunion Option for Vikings This Offseason

Joseph Zucker of Bleacher Report suggested the Vikings reunite with wideout Stefon Diggs, who helped the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl in 2025.

“Jordan Addison has yet to make a true breakthrough with the Minnesota Vikings. The team’s depth really falls off once you get past him and Justin Jefferson as well,” Zucker posited on Saturday, April 25. “The Vikings have one quarterback on a one-year contract (Kyler Murray) and another who may be heading into a make-or-break season (J.J. McCarthy). Bringing Diggs back to Minneapolis has some merit.”

Diggs put up north of 1,000 yards and four scores last season. He will turn 33 years old late in the 2026 campaign.
