Victor Wembanyama Listed as Questionable Ahead of Crucial Game 3 Showdown

The San Antonio Spurs may be without the superstar services of Victor Wembanyama in Game 3 in Portland.

Wembanyama has yet to clear the league’s concussion protocol and is questionable for tonight’s matchup against the Trail Blazers.

The 7-foot-4 center landed awkwardly on his face in Game 2 and was forced to exit the playoff matchup early. Following his departure, the Trail Blazers pulled off a narrow 106-103 victory.

Now, hosting a playoff game for the first time since 2021, the Trail Blazers look to take the series lead over the Spurs.

Despite being in the concussion protocol, Wembanyama traveled with the team to Portland. The French star was filmed participating in a shootaround on Friday morning at Moda Center.

Wemby Absence Would Be a Huge Blow For Spurs

There’s no secret that Wembanyama is the Spurs’ driving force.

Offensively, and especially defensively, the team relies heavily on his otherworldly size and instincts.

When he is on the floor, few players impact the game as immensely as the All-Star center.

“He deters people from even shooting the ball,” Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox said. “You talk about guys that change shots. He literally negates guys even shooting the ball. They’ll see him in there and dribble the ball out or kick out. He changes the whole dynamic of your defense, and he changes the dynamic of other team’s offense.”

Wemby has led the league in total blocks in all three of his NBA seasons. This week, he became the first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year Award winner.

Given that he traveled with the team and looked fluid during shootarounds, it’s possible Wembanyama returns in Game 3.

Should he sit out, it would be a massive break for a Trail Blazers offense that likes to attack the rim.

Blazers Host First Playoff Game Since 2021

Whether Wemby suits up or not, the Trail Blazers face a tall task at Moda Center.

Hosting their first playoff game in five years, Portland looks to break through its offensive woes. Through two playoff matchups, the Trail Blazers are averaging a meager 102 points per game. The lowly playoff output is a sizeable dip from its 115.5 points per game average in the regular season.

The Blazers’ 30.3 percent clip from deep is currently the fourth-worst three-point percentage among all playoff teams.

Scoot Henderson and Deni Adjiva have performed admirably thus far, but the team will need to improve upon its streaky shooting.

Will Damian Lillard Return Soon?

On Wednesday, the Trail Blazers took to social media to share a cryptic post of the All-Star point guard. Showcasing a video of Lillard taking the court for warm-ups, the team captioned the post with the eye emoji.

Lillard missed the entire 2025-26 regular season as he recovered from an Achilles injury he suffered in April 2025.

However, he is over a year removed from the injury, which is around the typical recovery time.

Lillard, 35, participates in a limited fashion, but has yet to return to five-on-five scrimmages.

While the Blazers have not ruled out his return this season, the team will be without him in Game 3.
