Victims identified in West Garfield Park shooting

The three people who were fatally shot Friday in West Garfield Park have been identified.

Kenneth M. Bell Jr., 27; Lavell Lee, 36; Rickia Williams, 32; and another man, 35, were standing on a sidewalk about 4:45 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Maypole Avenue when a driver pulled up to them and at least two people got out of the car and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Lee was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. Bell suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. Williams was struck in the head and pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, officials said.

The other man, who has not been identified, was shot multiple times and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Another man was also injured while running away from the gunfire, according to a police report obtained by the Sun-Times. He was not shot but he suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Humboldt Park Health Hospital in good condition.

After the shooting, police at the scene appeared to be focused on Gotcha Faded, a barbershop on Pulaski Road near that location. Officers went in and out of the storefront, and officers guarded the entrance.

The business could not be reached for comment Saturday, and attempts to reach friends and family of the victims were unsuccessful.

Officers later found the vehicle involved in the shooting had been set on fire, according to the police report.

Area Four Detectives are investigating.
