A house in Union City caught on fire twice between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, leaving the house damaged and two people displaced.

Two residents, one in their 80s and one in their 50s, were displaced after the fire. A cat was also rescued. The cause of both fires is under investigation. In both cases, the origin of the fire was in the garage, but the second fire spread to the attic area.
The Alameda County Fire Department received a call of a house fire on the 3200 block of San Luces Way. When firefighters arrived, they found the garage fully engulfed in flames. The fire was knocked down by 11:16 p.m. Wednesday night.
A spokesperson with the fire department said that after fire crews left after the first fire, the home was handed back over to the homeowners as they waited for the Red Cross to arrive, and a restoration company boarded up the garage.
Firefighters responded to a call of smoke coming from the the garage roof at 6:15 a.m. The responders had to break down the wooden boards to put out the second fire. The fire was put out in 20 minutes. After the second fire, officials discovered that smoke had gotten into the living space and the attic. The house was red-tagged, and the residents cannot go in the house anymore.
