Travis Kelce Gives Chiefs Draft Pick Huge Endorsement

The Kansas City Chiefs acquired several players who will have the chance to contribute right off the bat during the 2026 NFL Draft.

The headliners are cornerback Mansoor Delane and defensive tackle Peter Woods, both of which were selected in the first round. While those two should quickly make an impact, the Chiefs also got some good value on players in the middle rounds that could carve out significant roles as rookies.

While discussing the Chiefs’ 2026 draft class with his brother Jason Kelce on their latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis got particularly excited over Allen, who went to his alma mater Cincinnati.

“Cyrus Allen, wide receiver from Cincinnati, who I am jacked up to see,” Travis said. “We got another Bearcat in the building. We actually got two Bearcats in the building. One came as well, Jeff Caldwell, as a (undrafted) free agent pickup. But Cyrus Allen, he’s a route runner man. What we were talking about, what I want to see in a guy in the wide receiver room. He has his own twist on a lot of routes, and he has the quickness. He has the decisiveness. He really knows how to use his shoulders and his quickness and rhythm to get DBs in a bind.”

In 2025 Allen caught 51 passes for 674 yards and a whopping 13 touchdowns. As Travis alluded to, Allen is already considered to be a polished route runner with good speed and separation ability. Kansas City’s top three receivers appear to be Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton — but the depth chart seems pretty open beyond that. It isn’t out of the question that Allen could could be the fourth man up.

Travis Kelce ‘Pumped’ for Chiefs’ 2026 Draft Class

Travis went on to give his thoughts on all of Kansas City’s seven draft picks.

“Overall I thought we did an unbelievable job of getting young guys that look like they love ball, on the film that I’ve watched of them, and look like they can come in and help out right away,” Travis said.

“I’m pumped on seeing these young guys just getting in the building,” Travis continued. “I thought we had a great team last year. We got a lot of those pieces back, and the ones we lost we filled those needs ASAP. I think these guys, once they get in the building, they feel the culture and feel how we do things here, it’s an exciting time man. Shoutout to (general manager) Brett Veach and the crew for doing hard work and getting the guys we need in the building.”

In addition to Delane, Woods, and Allen, the Chiefs drafted edge rusher R Mason Thomas, defensive back Jadon Canady, running back Emmett Johnson, and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.

All besides Nussmeier are likely to see the field as rookies. The goal for Nussmeier is to develop into Kansas City’s No. 2 QB of the future, as the Chiefs have had a new backup in each of the last four years. The current backup, Justin Fields, is currently under contract for just the 2026 season.
