Thieves arrested for stealing $44 worth of items from Saratoga CVS

Forgery, grand theft: A Saratoga resident reported that the suspect took their government benefits check approximately four years prior, then altered and cashed the check for a loss of about $1,500. The suspect is known, and the case is being submitted to the district attorney’s office for review.

Jan. 30

Vehicle theft: Between 6 p.m. on Jan. 29 and 5 p.m. on Jan. 30, someone stole a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 13000 block of Kevin Street for a loss valued at approximately $35,000.

Unlawful display of registration tab: At 5 p.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Lawrence Expressway and Prospect Road for expired registration. An investigation revealed the vehicle’s registration expired in 2022 but was displaying a 2024 tab. The registered owner was aware of the vehicle’s status and was cited and released.

Jan. 31

Misappropriation of found property: Between 1:10 p.m. and 1:20 p.m., someine stole a backpack containing a laptop and a wallet left on the curb in front of a residence in the 19000 block of Dagmar Drive for a loss valued at approximately $2,500.

Feb. 1

Shoplifting, unlicensed driver: At 7:17 p.m., deputies responded to a theft call at CVS in the Argonaut Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The suspects fled the scene by vehicle before deputies arrived but were located and stopped a short time later. An investigation revealed three suspects entered the store and worked together to steal merchandise valued at approximately $44. Further investigation revealed two of the suspects also had outstanding warrants, and the suspect driving the getaway vehicle did not have a valid license. Two suspects were arrested and booked into main jail, while the third was cited and released.

Feb. 2

Annoying/harassing electronic communications: A Saratoga resident reported that someone made multiple harassing and threatening communications via voicemail and text message during the two weeks prior.
