Texans Meet With Former Jets Starter for Training Camp Roster Spot

The Houston Texans could bolster a strength, specifically their cornerback room, with former New York Jets starter Bryce Hall.

Hall is a former fifth-round draft pick, taken 158th overall, who spent the 2025 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There, he was a teammate of versatile new Texans defensive lineman Logan Hall.

Now, Hall is hoping for an opportunity with the Texans.

Texans Target Ex-Buccaneers, Jets CB Bryce Hall

“#Texans worked out former #Jets corner Bryce Hall today, per a league source @KPRC2,” KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported on X on August 8.

Hall, who turns 29 in November, was on the Buccaneers’ practice squad in 2025 and has not seen the field in a regular-season contest since the 2024 season. But the former Virginia Cavaliers standout was a full-time starter for the New York Jets to begin his career.

The 6-foot-1 defender started seven of the eight games he appeared in as a rookie.

He followed that by starting all 17 regular-season games the following season. It has been a slide for Hall ever since then, though.

Hall has appeared in 15 contests since the end of the 2021 season, serving as a reserve in all but two of them. Now, he figures to have an uphill climb to making the Texans’ 53-player roster for the regular season.

That is, if he is ultimately signed.

Bryce Hall Could Be Emergency Option for Texans

Hall has 122 combined tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery (which he scored a touchdown on), and 0.5 sacks in his career so far.

That kind of versatility is a likely reason he popped up on the Texans’ radar. He must still prove that he can be a depth option after being stuck on the Bucs’ practice squad in 2025. Of course, Hall could also be a practice squad target for the Texans once the season begins.

That would make his visit a valuable fact-finding mission.

Derek Stingley Jr. and Co. are healthy, so there is no apparent immediate need for Hall, lending credence to the idea that he is more of an emergency option at this point.
